Use your favorite color as your wedding color. It will make you happy looking at everything you have chose for the wedding decor. Something else that might be a good idea…make your fiance feel involved and pick your two favorite colors and use them for wedding flowers. Either one will make your day something special.

Our very own Jamie Lea had a wedding with beautiful magenta colored flowers and stuck with magenta’s throughout the wedding with touches of black and silver. You can make this work with any color. This is our wedding tip…hope it helps!

Vintage Bouquets are beautiful and timeless. They have meaning behind them and are a nice sentiment to your special day. We are going to give you some tips on how to achieve the perfect vintage bouquet.

Use a heirloom brooch, old locket, charm or an old world pendant. This is not only a personal touch but it could be your “something old” too.

Use flowers with a vintage look such as tea roses, fluffy hydrangeas, peonies, lily of the valley and lilacs. Thinks whites, blush pinks and soft blues for the colors of your bouquet flowers.

Go all one color such as white or even use just one type of flower for a timeless elegant look.

Use lace instead of wrapping it in ribbon. This creates a very soft, vintage look that is absolutely beautiful.

Also, use different types of gems such as pearls. You could do pearl looking pins inside of your roses or even use an old pearl bracelet to dangle from your bouquet.

The best part of vintage looking bouquets is all the thought and memory behind it. Just ask your mothers or grandparents or some other special family member or friend for something you could use in your bouquet. Or you could go to the local craft store or vintage boutique to find something that looks unique and beautiful for your “vintage bouquet.”

Martini – We can put a huge floral center piece on a huge martini glass. Something else that is really popular with martini glasses is to have an olive or a large cherry made out of flowers put in it the large vase.

Tea Pots – This is something that is super cute. We stick a cute arrangement of flowers in tea pots of all different sizes and it really looks so good!

When it comes to your wedding flowers, what is the most important thing? Well I hope you didn’t have to think long because it is simply the Bouquet! There is a lot to know about the different bouquet shapes. Different shapes give different feels.

Cascade: If you are going for traditional this is the bouquet for you. It resembles a “shower” and is very formal. As its name, it is supposed to cascade down gently and cover the bride’s fingers. Some popular flowers that are used with a cascade bouquet are: Lily of the Valley, Lisianthus, Stephanotis, and Dendrobium Orhids.

Composite: If you are looking for something really unique this is the right bouquet for you. In this bouquet you would take a certain flower for example a rose. And we’d use a lot of rose petals to make a giant bouquet. And you can do that with a lot of different flowers!

Nosegay: This is a combination of simple style and elegance. It is a bouquet packed tightly with either tight blooms of one flower or different flowers. Good flowers for this bouquet would be Roses, Tulips, Peonies, Hydrangeas, Calla Lilies, and Ranunculus.

Pageant: The pageant bouquet is a bunch of long stemmed flowers that the bride carries cradled in her arms. The best floral choices for this would be Calla Lilies, Roses, Delphinium, Tuberose, Lisianthus, or French Tulips. The flowers are held together by ribbon.

Posy: The posy bouquet is similar to the nosegay but is smaller. This is perfect for a petite bride, or for a bridesmaid’s bouquet. You could use smaller flowers such as Spray Roses, Ranunculus or Pansies.

Hand- Tied: This is the most popular type of bouquet. It has the fresh picked from a garden look. This can look very vintage if you tie with lace. Other wise it is tied with ribbon. Popular flowers for this type of bouquet can include French Tulips, Day Lilies, Coneflowers, Purple Statice, Lisianthus, and Stem Roses.

Hopefully one of these bouquets will be perfect for your style and your wedding!

For example, throw in several tall (vertical) arrangements in with your low horizontal arrangements when using long banquet tables. Or mix in tall (vertical) arrangements with low round arrangements when using regular banquet tables. Or mix up round banquet tables with three different sized centerpieces. Consider varying color combinations and floral materials. This is a great idea, because it gives the room volume. This way the room doesn’t look uniform, and it is also a great way to use tall centerpieces and get that elegant feel without having to spend the money to get them on all the tables.

A lot of brides love this idea when we show them pictures of how it looks. Here is an example of a wedding we did earlier this month.

This is the wedding of Andrea Goy and Jerry Macrito on September 3rd, 2001 at Eaglebrook Country Club- Geneva, IL. Andrea and Jerry decided to go with three different centerpieces for their tables- a tall cylinder vase with flowers inside and a large airy arrangement on top; A medium cylinder vase with sunken orchids inside and a floating candle; and a small low cylinder vase with a matching arrangement inside. All three tables were sprinkled with petals and had different size candles around the arrangement. That will create a very romantic feel once it gets dark and the lights are dimmed.

Congratulations Andrea and Jerry!

With an autumn wedding you’ll enjoy cooler temperatures. Plus, fall foliage can be quite aesthetically appealing, especially for your photos!”

Fall into love with these fall inspired wedding flowers. When people think of fall flowers, it is often the colors as much as the actual flowers that are important. Rich reds, fiery oranges and beautiful yellows are the order of the day.

One of our clients decided to have a late summer wedding, and mix both summer and fall flowers. Lindsay Michalek and Grant Eisenhut were married on September 3, 2011 at Mill Creek Golf Club in Geneva, IL. Town and Country Gardens, Owner and Wedding consultant Anton Engelmann worked with Lindsey and Grant to achieve their perfect wedding flowers.

Lindsay and Grant wanted a very natural look for their flowers. Their wedding colors were gray and lavender and they picked the perfect flowers to accent those colors. Some of the flowers they choose include Brown hanging Amaranths, Green mini Hydrangea, Blue Thistle, Green Hypericum Berries, Lavender, Bupleurum, and Seeded Eucalyptus. All of these flowers are found in the bride bouquet, the bridesmaid’s bouquets, and the Arch arrangement. The Groom and Groomsmen’s Boutonnieres Accent the bouquets by including the Lavender and Green Hypericum Berries.

The Bride Herself said: “I can not speak highly enough of Anton and whoever else actually put together my wedding bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets, and the guy’s boutonnieres…. they were BEAUTIFUL!!!! We also absolutely loved the floral spray that was made to decorate the arch at Mill Creek. Everything turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Thanks to all of you at Town and Country Gardens for making our day so beautiful!”

Thank you so much, Lindsay and Grant Eisenhut! Congratulations!
